The Animation Learning Path is comprised of six courses.  The following are the course descriptions for each 2 month courses.

Fundamentals of Animation

This course will teach students the fundamentals of drawing. Students will explore various art and media to use a variety of drawing tools.

Starting with simple shapes and progressing to more complex organic forms, students will build skill levels in composition, line quality, use of tone

and human anatomy.

2D Animation

This course will teach students how to apply basic animation principles to produce a sequence. Emphasis will be placed on timing and performance.

Use of a capture device, pencil tests, inking,and other 2-D animation skills will be explored.

3D Animation

Students are introduced to basic 3-D animation concepts by applying key framing techniques along a timeline. Students will apply changes in translation, scale and rotation through space in time, and be introduced to camera control.

Conceptual Storytelling

In this Course, students study the universal themes of traditional storytelling as well as their applications to visual narrative design and new nonlinear and interactive forms of media. Students will analyze historical examples of visual narratives and then convey ideas and emotions through the use of images and traditional storytelling techniques in order to design new narratives in a variety of entertainment media formats.

Storyboarding

This course focuses on applying industry-standard storyboarding and scripting techniques to animation. Contents to be covered include the various purposes and formats of storyboards, the basic terminology and concepts used in story boarding, and the application of story boarding techniques to the creation of storyboards with or without a written script.

Portfolio & Career Development

In this course, students will complete portfolio pieces, organize them for presentation, and focus on works that reflect and enhance their individual strengths in computer animation. This course enables students to define and pursue their career path.
